Giving Operating System Commands from AVEVA E3D Design

Keywords:

SYSCOMmand

Description:

AVEVA E3D Design normally assumes that any command input in response to its prompt character (*) is an instruction to the current module, and will check its validity on that assumption. The user can issue an operating system (OS) command to the host computer from within AVEVA E3D Design by entering the SYSCOM command followed immediately (without pressing Return) by the OS command enclosed between apostrophes (’) or vertical bars (|). The effect applies only to the single command line; as soon as the OS command has been executed, control is returned to AVEVA E3D Design.

Note:
Do not try to issue OS commands which might disrupt AVEVA E3D Design operations; for example, commands which would close or amend files currently in use by AVEVA E3D Design.

Example:

SYSCOM 'dir'

Lists directory from which the user entered AVEVA E3D Design.
