Object Snap Settings

Defines the default Object Snap, P-line Filter and Grid settings.

You can define object snap settings and object snap modes.

Project Snaps onto LCS (F4) |
Specifies if object snaps are projected to the working plane. |

Projected Start / End |
Turns projected snap mode on or off. |
|
Distance Snap |
Turns distance snapping on or off. Enter a default distance. |
|
Significant Snaps |
Turns significant snap mode on or off. |
|
Object Snap On (F3) |
Turns object snaps on or off. Activates the Elements and Graphics tabs. |
Select the Object Snap mode check boxes to specify the types of snap points that are available.
Elements

Node |
Turns on or off node snap functionality for model elements. For example, GENSEC connection nodes and grid intersections. |

Item |
Turns on or off endpoint snap functionality for model objects. For example, endpoints of a GENSEC. |

Item Mid Point |
Turns on or off midpoint snap functionality for model elements. For example, the midpoint of a GENSEC. |
|
P-Point |
Turns on or off P-Point snap functionality for model elements. For example, a P-Point on a GENSEC. |

P-Line Intersection |
Turns on or off P-Line intersection snap functionality. |
|
P-Line End Point |
Turns on or off P-Line End snap functionality for model elements. For example, a P-Line end on a GENSEC. |

P-Line Mid Point |
Turns on or off P-Line midpoint snap functionality for model elements. For example, a P-Line midpoint on a GENSEC. |

Laser Data |
Turns on or off snapping to laser data. |
Graphics

Endpoint |
Turns on or off endpoint snap functionality for graphical objects. For example a construction aid. |
|
Midpoint |
Turns on or off midpoint snap functionality for graphical objects. |
|
Centre |
Turns on or off center point snap functionality for graphical objects. For example, a circular construction aid. |
|
Quadrant |
Turns on or off quadrant point snap functionality for graphical objects. For example, points representing quadrants of arced construction aids. |

Nearest |
Turns on or off nearest snap functionality. |
|
Intersection |
Turns on or off intersection point snap functionality for graphical objects. |
|
Extension |
Turns on or off extension point snap functionality for graphical objects. The cursor is attracted by virtual extensions of graphical objects. |

Perpendicular To |
Turns on or off perpendicular to point snap functionality. For example, a GENSEC can be positioned so that the start point direction is perpendicular to the object that it is connected to. |

Perpendicular From |
Turns on or off perpendicular from point snap functionality for graphical objects. For example, a GENSEC can be positioned so that the end point direction is perpendicular to the object that it is connected to. |
|
Tangent |
Turns on or off tangent point snap functionality for graphical objects. For example, points of graphical objects where the line connecting the point and the previous point is tangent to the graphical object. |

Parallel |
Turns on or off parallel point snap functionality for graphical objects. For example, points on a virtual line parallel to the indicated graphical object. |
|
Surface |
Turns on or off surface point snap functionality for graphical objects. For example, the surface of a section or a panel. |
Select the P-line filters tab to filter the P-line snap points.

You can define the P-line snap points that are visible.
The list of available P-lines is populated with all P-lines filtered by PKEY and Description.The Standard and System P-lines can be expanded or collapsed.

Visible |
Select the check box in the header of the column to select or deselect all P-lines in the list. Select a check box to mark the P-line as visible. Deselect a check box to mark the P-line as not visible. |

PKEY |
Input a PKEY value of four letters in the field to define the PKEY for a user-defined P-line. |

Description |
Input a PKEY description in the field to define the description for a user-defined P-line. |
|
|
Add |
Click to add a user-defined P-line to the list of available P-lines. |
|
|
Remove |
Click to remove the currently selected user-defined P-line from the list of available P-lines. |
|
|
Reset to default |
Click to return the P-line Filters tab to the default settings. |
|
Select the Grid Settings tab to set the grid defaults.

Define the grid spacing, grid snapping, grid style, and ruler display settings defaults.

Grid On (F7) |
Displays the grid in the current 3D view. |
|
Grid Snap On (F9) |
Snap objects to the grid in the current 3D view. |
|
Grid Spacing |
Input dimensional values in the X and Y fields to define the grid spacing. |
|
Snap Spacing |
Input dimensional values in the X and Y fields to define how closely the cursor adheres to the grid. |
|
Style |
Select a grid display style from the drop-down list. |
|
Draw rulers |
Display rulers when the grid displays. |

Click Save to save the grid setting changes. Clicking Reset, returns the grid settings to there default settings.

Click Apply to accept the Object Snap, P-line Filters and Grid settings.

Click OK to accept the Object Snap, P-line Filters and Grid settings and close the Object Snapping Settings window.

Click Cancel to discard any changes and close the Object Snapping Settings window.
