Adding Design Points to Template Elements

The design datasets for a template, as discussed in Design Datasets, approximate to the Geomset data for a catalog component. In a similar way, design templates can also own Design Pointsets (DPSE), which approximate to the Pointset data for a catalog component. These let the user assign p-points to design template items, to be used as references for subsequent positioning and orientating operations.

A design pointset can store three types of p-point (note that these are not the same as those available in catalog pointsets):

  • A Cartesian P-point is specified in terms of its X,Y,Z co-ordinates only, thus:

  • A Cylindrical P-point is specified as a position on the surface of a cylinder at a given position and with given dimensions, thus:

  • A Spherical P-point is specified as a position on the surface of a sphere at a given position and with given dimensions, thus:
