Pipe Clearance (MDSSUPPCL)

  • Last UpdatedJun 03, 2026
  • 4 minute read

Default value (mm)

Session/default catalogue modifiable

Description

100

Session

Steelwork clearance from support ancillaries.

The value is defined by the ancillary default values declared in AVEVA catalogue™. For example, in the DATA members found in a typical ancillary default DTSE element. For example, DTSE /MDS/ATTA/DEFAULTS/AT01/100/FRMW.

When a user chooses to create a support using the clearance option, the value is used to determine the clearance on both sides of the support ancillary. For example, if the ancillary default values are not found.

Max. Horizontal Angle (MDSMAXHANG)

Default value (degrees)

Session/default catalogue modifiable

Description

30

Default catalogue

Maximum allowable horizontal angle for pipe hangers.

The default determines the maximum allowable angle in the horizontal plane with respect to the datum pipe centreline that a pipe can have in order to be added to a framework.

Min. Rod Length (MDSMINHANG)

Default value (mm)

Session/default catalogue modifiable

Description

150

Default catalogue

Minimum hanger rod length for information only.

Max. Pivot Angle (MDSMAXPIVA)

Default value (degrees)

Session/default catalogue modifiable

Description

30

Default catalogue

Maximum pivot angle for pipe hangers.

The default determines the maximum allowable slope for a horizontal pipe that can be supported by a hanger. If the user attempts to support a section of pipe with a slope greater than the MDSMAXPIVA angle an error displays.

Project Hanger Interface (MDSHANGIF)

Default value

Session/default catalogue modifiable

Description

Standard MDS

Default catalogue

Project hanger interface (4 options):

  • MDS = Standard MDS Hanger application

  • CPL = Witch Hanger from Carpenter & Paterson Ltd

  • LISEGA = LICAD from Lisega.

  • PSL = PSDesigner from Pipe Supports Ltd.

GEN1 = Generic interface. (GEN1 is an example name used to represent a generic interface. A generic interface can be any interface that adheres to the generic hanger interface schema.

You can define the hanger Interfaces that are available for use in Model.

The default hanger interface is selected by you and loaded automatically when the user enters Model. Only active default hanger interfaces are available from the drop-down list.

Right-click the currently selected entry to display a drop-down menu.

Toggle Hanger Interface Available

Select from the drop-down menu to toggle hanger interface availability on/off for the currently selected entry.

Set Hanger Interface as Default

Select from the drop-down menu to set the currently selected entry as the default hanger interface.

Export to Excel

Select from the drop-down menu to export the hanger interface list to an Excel file. Click to display the Save to Excel window. You can navigate to a location and name the exported Excel file.

Print Preview

Select from the drop-down menu to display the hanger interface list in the Print Preview window

User Warning Angle (MDSPIVWARN)

Default value (degrees)

Session/default catalogue modifiable

Description

5

Default catalogue

Warning pivot angle for pipe hangers.

The default is associated with hangers and determines the angle above which a warning displays to the user. If the user attempts to support a section of pipe with a slope greater than or equal to the MDSPIVWARN angle, an error displays but the user is allowed to continue with the design process.

Note: It is essential that the value of MDSPIVWARN is always less than the value of MDSMAXPIVA.

In the example, the user receives a warning alert, as the slope of the pipe is greater than the MDSPIVWARN angle but less than the MDSMAXPIVA angle.

Note: The manufacturer’s hanger interface (Witch Hanger, LICAD and PSDesigner) overrides these default settings.

Joint Offset (MDSOFFSET)

Default value (mm)
