Smart objects

Smart objects are what makes AVEVA Production Accounting truly object oriented. Using formulas, you can configure properties of your plant model objects which are calculated rather than measured. The calculation can draw data from other objects in the model.
This permits you to use smart object calculations to fill in missing flow measurements, when they can be inferred by reaction equations, other measurements and lab data, regardless of the complexity of the inference. AVEVA Production Accounting has done this for other customers and found that the results obtained are reliable enough to actually increase the redundancy in your model.
It also permits you to synthesize high level performance indicators that can be used to manage your plant and present them on displays that abstract features of your plant.
Object properties are the names and numbers associated with objects in AVEVA Production Accounting (streams, tanks, nodes, processes). Numeric values associated with objects normally either come from process history and movement logging data, or are the direct result of reconciliation adjustments. You can add new, dynamically calculated numeric properties to any objects. These smart properties draw data from within the same object or other objects in the plant model.
The objects are then “smart” in the sense that they “know” how to calculate their own Key Performance Indicators.
This opens the door to using AVEVA Production Accounting to create logical models that directly show the data you would normally have to laboriously extract from the results of competitors’ software. The calculations do not noticeably add to model display times due to AVEVA Production Accounting’s remarkable performance.

AVEVA Production Accounting can display a logical model with smart objects for KPIs from the balance models. The main KPIs in a plant are loss and energy unit cost, which represent the overall performance of the plant.
