Composition tracking

Tracking the composition and quality of feedstock through tanks and material movements is a requirement for both engineering and accounting applications.

Plant operators and engineers in chemical plants and refineries are often forced to estimate the composition and quality in each feedstock tank based on scheduled tank movements.

Unfortunately, the composition data provided by tank farm personnel suffers from inaccuracies and actual movements may differ from scheduled movements.

AVEVA Production Accounting Composition Tracking (CT) addresses the following problems in feedstock composition tracking in chemical plants and oil refineries:

• Composition information for feedstocks such as crude oil or naphtha is often provided by one person in the supply chain with varying degrees of accuracy. AVEVA Production Accounting CT provides a way to check and improve those figures through calculations.

• Composition data is often calculated and provided to the refinery/chemical plant without regard to information obtained by balancing the plant. AVEVA Production Accounting CT’s input figures are based on knowledge gained by performing the plant balance.

• AVEVA Production Accounting CT takes into consideration the fact that pipelines contain significant volume. Feedstock composition values as supplied without AVEVA Production Accounting CT are normally calculated without accounting for that volume.

• Traditional composition tracking calculations assume that tank blends are ideal mixes. AVEVA Production Accounting CT allows you to specify four different tank blend calculation methods, applied using time slices for greater accuracy.

• AVEVA Production Accounting CT can accept data from external crude assay systems to obtain quality data.
