Authorize a custom application as a data source

Before you can access data from an application built with the Historian SDK, you must authorize a data source for the application with Publisher.

Note: The registration string that you receive from Publisher is specifically for the computer you are using. It cannot be transferred to a different computer.

Note 2:See Tag naming conventions to ensure that your tag names are supported by AVEVA Insight before proceeding.

To register your SDK application as a data source

1. Run AVEVA Insight Publisher.

   Tip: In Windows, if you don't have a shortcut set up, you can select All Programs, select Wonderware, select AVEVA Insight Publisher, and then select AVEVA Insight Publisher.

   

2. Select Authorize.

3. Sign in to AVEVA Insight.

   Note: You use your same sign-in credentials (email address and password) for AVEVA Insight, Publisher, and AVEVA Insight mobile app.

4. On the Region page, select the region where the majority of your users work.

5. On the Web Proxy Configuration page, if your internet access requires a proxy, accept the URL displayed .

   Or, if a much more suitable URL exists, type that URL instead.

6. Select Continue.

7. If prompted, sign in to AVEVA Insight Publisher.

   Note: You use your same login credentials (email address and password) for AVEVA Insight, Publisher, and AVEVA Insight mobile app.

8. Type a name for your application. This will be the name of the data source in AVEVA Insight.

9. Follow the on-screen instructions to finish creating the data source in AVEVA Insight and start publishing your data.

10. On completion of this process, copy or save the connection token information so that you can use it in your application.
