When you publish tags, they may already include tag extended properties including location and geolocation.

  • Location identifies the part of your business to which a tag or user account belongs.

For example, you may have one location called Staging and another called Shipping to track different data used by different sets of people.

  • Geolocation identifies a physical location, measured by longitude, latitude, and (optionally) elevation.

For example, your packing facility in Seattle may at latitude 47.36, longitude -122.19, and elevation 56.2 (meters above sea level). All tags related to that facility will be assigned those geolocation coordinates.

If you are an Administrator, you can use the Data Sources page to assign a location or a geolocation to all unassigned tags within a data source.

If you are a Publisher, you can only assign a location or a geolocation using AVEVA Insight Publisher. See Work with an existing data source in AVEVA Insight Publisher.
