AVEVA™ Process Simulation

During development

While using AVEVA Real-Time System (RTS) to develop sequences, you typically open AVEVA Process Simulation first as you normally do when creating and building simulations. Then, you run RTS sequences. When a sequence attempts to access AVEVA Process Simulation, it uses the version that you already opened manually.

An alternative development workflow is to allow RTS to run AVEVA Process Simulation internally. To do this, ensure that AVEVA Process Simulation is not running, and then use RTS to run a sequence. RTS runs the SimCentral.Server.ConsoleServiceHost.exe process. However, while in this mode, you cannot manually open AVEVA Process Simulation from the Windows Start menu as you normally do. If you do, the user interface (UI) does not recognize the currently running instance of the AVEVA Process Simulation server and shuts down. This causes RTS to malfunction. Instead, you must open the AVEVA Process Simulation UI (client) from the command line by using the rts start-sc-ui default command.
