AVEVA™ Process Simulation

Preview Library

  • Last UpdatedMay 16, 2024

The Preview Library is a test-phase Model Library provided with AVEVA Process Simulation. It contains models that illustrate capabilities of AVEVA Process Simulation but that are not sufficiently refined such that we can include them in one of the standard Model Libraries.

Important: We may change or remove models in this Model Library in future versions.

The following table lists the models that are available in this Model Library. The table includes very brief descriptions for each model. The Model Help in the AVEVA Process Simulation user interface contains more detailed information for these models. See Open the Model Help for a Model Type or Model Library for more information.

Name

Type

Description

Boiler

Model

Models a drum combined with a superheater. The Boiler model includes a drum submodel and a heat exchanger submodel. It provides one feed for the feed water and one feed for the combustion fuel. It has one vapor product for superheated steam and one liquid product for blowdown water. It does not model the flue gas.

BoilerDrum*

Submodel

Models the steam drum or deaerator used in a Boiler unit.

BoilerHXC*

Submodel

Models an internal heat coil used in a Boiler unit.

Decanter

Model

Models the separation of a heterogeneous liquid into its individual phases. It serves as an alternative to the Separator in special cases when experimental data or plant data are given preference over the predicted liquid-liquid equilibrium (LLE) behavior.

EqSep_LLE*

Submodel

Serves as a three-phase equilibrium separation submodel for the Decanter model. It includes the option to manually specify component KLL values.

KODrum

Model

Models a knock-out drum. A knock-out drum separates vapor and liquid from a stream before it enters a compressor or other process, as the presence of liquid may damage the downstream equipment. Typically, the knock-out drum collects small amounts of condensate that accumulate in the vessel over time. The liquid collected in a knock-out drum is usually discarded into the plant’s drainage system. The liquid product of the knock-out drum and its level control are usually not the focus of a system design. The KODrum model simplifies the simulation by discarding the collected liquid without the need of attaching a liquid stream, valve, control model, and sink.

ONNXAdaptor

Submodel

Connects its parent model to an external machine learning model in the form of an ONNX format (.onnx) file. For example, you can add an ONNXAdapter submodel to a reactor model, and then use an ONNX machine leaning submodel to calculate the reaction rate change.

If you want to use the ONNXAdaptor submodel, you must update the Model Type for the parent model to include the ONNXAdaptor submodel as one of its submodels. We recommend that you create copies of the parent Model Types in the simulation-specific Model Library, and then update the copied Model Types to include the ONNXAdaptor submodel.

RateLimit

Model

Limits the rate of change of the input based on the RLu and RLd values.

RingPump

Model

Provides a basic mass and energy balance for a liquid ring vacuum pump (LRVP). We designed this model for use in Process mode only, and it does not perform rigorous sizing calculations.

SlopePSV

Model

Calculates the relieving capacity that should appear on a pressure relief valve set at or between the minimum and maximum listed set pressures in a Series Capacity chart. It uses equations from the National Board Inspection Code (NBIC).

UserState*

Submodel

Serves as a submodel for the Decanter model. It supports user-specified KLL values.

* Only Model Writers can view these submodels.
