Set the file size of the AVEVA Process Simulation server log

By default, the server log (the Server.log file) is in the Logs folder of the AVEVA Process Simulation Repository. If you used roaming profiles when you installed AVEVA Process Simulation, you can find the Server.log file in the %AppData%\SimSci\SimCentral\Logs folder. Otherwise, you can find it in the %LocalAppData%\SimSci\SimCentral\Logs folder.

The software reuses this file, and it can grow very large over time. You can configure the server log such that it creates a new file if the file size exceeds a certain amount, such as 10 MB.

Set the file size of the Server.log file

  1. Browse to the Server folder of your AVEVA Process Simulation installation.

    For the single-user edition, the default location for the Server folder is %LocalAppData%\SimSci\SimCentral\Server. For the all-users edition, the default location is %ProgramData%\SimSci\SimCentral. If you installed AVEVA Process Simulation to a custom folder location, you can find the Server folder in the <InstallFolder>\SimSci\SimCentral folder, where <InstallFolder> is the folder that you selected when you installed AVEVA Process Simulation.

  2. Open the SimCentral.Server.ConsoleServiceHost.exe.config file in a text editor.

  3. Update the value for the following key in the <appSettings> section:

    <add key="DoNotReuseLogFileIfExceedsSize" value="10485760" />

    The value is in bytes.
