AVEVA™ Process Simulation

Applications of the PRM method

The Peng-Robinson Modified Panagiotopoulos-Reid (PRM) equation of state is suitable for specific systems of polar and nonpolar compounds for which the Panagiotopoulos-Reid parameters (kij and kji) and the SimSci parameters (cij and cji) are available in the thermodynamic data banks in AVEVA Thermodynamic Data Manager or can be determined by regressing experimental data. Some examples of these types of systems include:

  • Three-phase separators

  • Water-hydrocarbon systems, such as those found in FCC gas plants and hydrocrackers

  • Lube oil and solvent de-waxing units

  • Natural gas systems that contain polar compounds such as methanol
