AVEVA™ Process Simulation

Silently install AVEVA Real-Time System

You should install AVEVA Process Simulation before you install AVEVA Real-Time System (RTS).

AVEVA Process Simulation has two installation types, the single-user edition and the all-users edition. You can use either installation type with RTS, but you should use the all-users edition for a production server. When you install the all-users edition of AVEVA Process Simulation, be sure to select Options during the installation and clear the SimCentral Roaming Profile checkbox. This action ensures that the service account's profile remains on the local server.

Regardless of which edition you use, each user has their own private simulation and Model Library repository.

For a production server, we recommend that you use the AVEVA Licensing System (ALS) licensing.

See the AVEVA Process Simulation Installation Guide (the AVEVA Process Simulation Installation Guide.pdf file in your AVEVA Process Simulation installation package) for more information.

RTS also has two installation types:

  • Core setup edition – Installs RTS to a specified folder location. This edition also only installs RTS shortcuts on the Windows Start menu for the user who installs RTS.

Use the SimSci.SimCentral.RtsCoreSetup.exe file to install this edition of RTS.

  • Core setup for all users edition – Installs RTS to the common C:\SimSci\RtsCore folder by default so that more than one user can access it. This edition also installs RTS shortcuts on the Windows Start menu for all users on the local computer. You must have administrator privileges to install this edition of RTS.

Use the SimSci.SimCentral.RtsCoreSetupAllUsers.exe file to install this edition of RTS.

Both editions are available in the root folder of the AVEVA Process Simulation installation package. We recommend that you use the All-users edition when you install RTS in a production environment.

If you are installing RTS on a Windows Server operating system (OS) after previously uninstalling RTS, you might get a message that the product "is already installed" when you try to re-install RTS. If you continue to receive this message after you confirm that RTS is not installed, an unrelated corruption in the Windows registry may have caused a problem during the RTS uninstallation such that the RTS registry keys were not properly updated or removed. You may be able to fix this problem by cleaning up the RTS registry keys. See Troubleshoot the installation for more information.
