First-time users who do not have prerequisites installed must have administrator privileges to install the following software prerequisites:

• Microsoft .NET Framework 4.7.2

• Microsoft Edge WebView2

• Visual Studio Tools for Office (VSTO) 2010

Review the AVEVA Process Simulation Installation Guide. You may need help from an administrator to install the prerequisites on some systems.

The AVEVA Process Simulation Microsoft Excel Add-in is sometimes not installed. This is often a result of not verifying certificates for Visual Studio Tools for Office due to internet access limitations.

Install the AVEVA Process Simulation Excel Add-in from the Excel Options window in Excel. See "Known Issues" in the AVEVA Process Simulation Installation Guide for detailed installation instructions.

On some server-class operating systems, you may encounter an "Installation is forbidden by system policy" message during the installation. This policy is a design feature for server-class computers.

Work with your system administrator to address any system policies that may be blocking the installation.

Under certain circumstances, the product installer may report that the VSTO 2010 prerequisite is missing, where it was present before.

Reinstall the prerequisite by using the vstor_redist.exe file in the prerequisites/Office folder in the installation package.

After you install AVEVA Process Simulation, when you open Microsoft Excel you may see a .vsto prompt where the software asks you to install the customization. This issue is present starting from AVEVA Process Simulation 2024.2.

This prompt occurs only for a specific combination of installation actions and AVEVA Process Simulation edition type. See "Microsoft Office Customization Installer prompt from Microsoft Excel" in the AVEVA Process Simulation Installation Guide for more information on this prompt.

There are no AVEVA Process Simulation or Excel-related issues with this prompt. If this prompt appears, you can select Install and proceed to use Excel as you normally would.

An upgrade to our build software caused an issue with AVEVA Process Simulation 2024.2 (and later) and AVEVA Real-Time System where if you try to install the software silently through the command prompt window, the /?, -help, or -h commands do not display the available switches and variables in the Setup Help window.

To assist you with a silent installation of AVEVA Process Simulation and AVEVA Real-Time System, we have updated our applicable installation and user guides by including a new reference topic that lists the available variables and switches that you can use if you want to silently install the software through a command line tool.

Creating, opening, or importing a simulation may give an exception and leave the Canvas blank when the access to the configured default printer is denied due to either a VPN or firewall security restriction.

Set the default printer to any of the accessible printers, for example, the Microsoft Print to PDF or Microsoft XPS Document Writer printer.

The AVEVA Process Simulation Excel Add-In ribbon actions result in a "Not able to connect to the AVEVA Process Simulation Server" message.

Start the AVEVA Process Simulation client so that the AVEVA Process Simulation Excel add-in can connect to its server.

Excel values may display #Value or 0 when you first open an Excel report in Microsoft Excel 2016 if the Excel report was saved in an earlier version of Excel.

Start the AVEVA Process Simulation Client UI before you open Excel.

Refresh the data in the Excel report.

When you make any of the following changes to a Model Type, any open simulations that include model instances for that Model Type do not reflect the changes until you close and reopen the simulation:

• Change or add custom messages.

• Change or add icons.

• Change a submodel to an array of submodels.

• Change a port to an array of ports.

• Change or add a port connection.

• Change or add a model connection.

• Change the Global or Totalized options for variables or parameters.

• Change the Groups.

• Change or add an external DLL.

Close and reopen the simulation to apply the changes for the Model Type to its model instances in the simulation.

Thermodynamics: Phase Definitions

Selecting phases (Vapor Only, Liquid Only, VLE, VLWE, or VLLE) that are inconsistent with the component slate may report wrong answers without warning.

Evaluate the possibility of additional or reduced phases by independent means.

This issue applies to Fluid Types that use any of the following Thermo Types:

• IsomericHydrogen (cryogenic hydrogen applications)

• CarbonDioxide (supercritical CO2 applications)

  The surface tension and thermal conductivity are hardcoded to constants. They may not be accurate for your simulation conditions.

Obtain the surface tension and thermal conductivity by other means.

Thermodynamics: VLLE

The vapor-liquid-liquid equilibrium (VLLE) flash calculations for systems that contain petroleum components may predict incorrect phases.

In this release, VLLE is specifically intended for chemical systems that use library components and liquid activity coefficient (LACT) methods. You should independently review the VLLE predictions for systems with petroleum components that use equation of state methods.

While in Dynamics mode, the solver finds an incorrect solution when going from all vapor to conditions where liquid phases will form or vice-versa.

Avoid Dynamics mode or re-initialize the flash at the transition point based on specific conditions.
