AVEVA™ Process Simulation

Summary for the A3 example simulation

This example demonstrates the separation of a mixed isopropyl alcohol (IPA) and water stream by using azeotropic distillation with a cyclohexane entrainer. The first tower isolates IPA in the bottom product. The second tower isolates purified water in the bottom product while recycling a mixed distillate to the first tower. We mix the recycle with fresh feed before we send it to the first tower. We mix the makeup cyclohexane with the organic-phase recycle from the reflux drum of the first tower before we send it to the first tower as well.
