AVEVA™ Process Simulation

Fluid Flow mode for the F4 example simulation

The purpose of Fluid Flow mode is to determine PSV back pressures at relieving conditions. In Fluid Flow mode, all of the mixers provide a pressure balance and pipes use their nominal pipe inside diameter. We make the following assumptions:

  • As in Process mode, we specify the flow at each source.

  • We calculate the relief valve back pressure based on the flare stack pressure at atmospheric pressure, and pressure drop through the piping system.

  • We model several relief events as different combinations of relieving relief valves, which we save as the following snapshots to show the resulting imposed back pressure on the different relief valves.

    • FF 1 - All valves are open.

    • FF 2 – Total power failure occurs.

    • FF 3 – Cooling water failure occurs.
