User permissions for AVEVA Real-Time System

Windows user permissions control who can connect to AVEVA Real-Time System (RTS) and which sequences they can see. Currently, only the RTS Console and web-access user interface (UI) support user permissions. That is, user permissions do not affect commands that you issue with the rts command.
By default, Windows allows access to any users configured on the local computer. Anyone who has read access to the <RTSInstall>\sequences folder automatically has access to RTS Console, where <RTSInstall> is the folder in which you installed RTS. Therefore, all users configured on the local computer can access RTS Console.
However, a local administrator can configure the access permissions for the <RTSInstall>\sequences folder to allow only specific, authenticated user groups to run the RTS Console user interface. Configuring the access permissions allows multiple users to use the same RTS system from their respective logins. To do this, an administrator configures the security settings for the <RTSInstall>\sequences folder such that it no longer inherits from the parent folder. Then, the administrator can configure specific permissions for each user or user group. See Configure access to the sequence folders for more information.
Unauthenticated users see the authentication error page when they try to access RTS Console. See Open RTS Console for more information.
You can also create Area folders within the <RTSInstall>\sequences folder and limit user permissions by area. See Sequence folder structure for more information.
