AVEVA™ Process Simulation

Adsorption Library

The Adsoprtion Library is an example Model Library provided with AVEVA Process Simulation. It provides models for the rigorous solution of pressure swing adsorption (PSA) processes along with replaceable Model Types for mass and heat transfer correlations for layered beds and adsorbents models.

You can use this Model Library for process simulation in Process, Fluid Flow, and Dynamics modes.

Because this Model Library is an example Model Library, you must first import it into AVEVA Process Simulation to use its models in your simulations. You can import this Model Library from the %userprofile%\My Libraries\Examples folder.

The following table lists the models that are available in this Model Library. The table includes very brief descriptions for each model. The Model Help in the AVEVA Process Simulation user interface contains more detailed information for these models. See Open the Model Help for a Model Type or Model Library for more information.

Model

Models an adsorber vessel in a PSA process. We designed the Adsorber model to build a PSA process simulation in Process mode. We designed it to run in Dynamics mode.

Provides the fluid state properties for computations with an Air fluid.

BedElem*

Models the bed element (slice) of a packed bed adsorber.

BedLayer*

Submodel

Models the bed layer of the Adsorption model, which contains the properties and profiles of a single adsorbent layer in the column.

FlowSet

Model

Models a pressure change device to simulate a simplified compressor, blower, or pump.

HeadGeometry*

Submodel

Provides the head volume, mass, and surface area calculations for the Adsorber model.

HeadIn*

Submodel

Models the head feed inlet space with heat transfer for the Adsorber model.

HeadOut*

Submodel

Models the head product outlet space with heat transfer for the Adsorber model.

IsothermExLangmuir

Submodel

Provides the calculations for equilibrium loading from the Extended Langmuir equation.

IsothermInert

Submodel

Provides the calculations for equilibrium loading for an inert packing.

IsothermLinear

Submodel

Provides the calculations for equilibrium loading from the linear isotherm.

RatesLDF

Submodel

Provides the calculations for adsorption rate based on the linear driving force assumption.

RatesLocal

Submodel

Provides the calculations for adsorbate loading by using the local equilibrium assumption.

Valve

Model

Models incompressible (liquid) flow or compressible (vapor) flow that includes choked flow. We recommend that you use the Process Library valve for adsorption processes except for the special case where you want to control the molar or volumetric flow rate between a minimum and maximum value.

Models the wall element (slice) of a packed bed adsorber.
