The GERG-2008 equation of state (EOS) supports only the following 21 natural gas components[1]:

  • Methane

  • Ethane

  • Propane

  • n-Butane

  • Isobutane

  • n-Pentane

  • Isopentane

  • n-Hexane

  • n-Heptane

  • n-Octane

  • n-Nonane

  • n-Decane

  • Hydrogen

  • Oxygen

  • Nitrogen

  • Carbon Dioxide

  • Carbon Monoxide

  • Water

  • Hydrogen sulfide

  • Helium

  • Argon

We recommend that you use the GERG-2008 EOS only for natural gases or natural gas mixtures that do not include components other than these listed natural gas components.

You can use the GERG-2008 EOS for most natural gas processes, including the following[1]:

  • Transportation through pipelines or by shipping

  • Storage and liquefaction

  • Gas component separation
