Mode summary for the U6 example simulation

The following table provides a summary of the simulation operation in all three modes:

Process

Fluid Flow

Dynamics

Purpose

Size the pipes for required flow rates. Check the heat exchanger outlet temperatures.

Determine the actual flow distribution through the network.

Perform dynamic studies.

Pumps

Estimate the pressure rise.

Operate based on performance curve.

Operate based on performance curve.

Pipes

Calculate the diameter to check nominal pipe size requirements.

Set the inside diameter based on nominal pipe size.

Mixers

Use the minimum of inlet pressures.

Set all inlet and outlet pressures the same.

Set all inlet and outlet pressures the same.

Splitters

Set the split fraction to the required flow rate.

Calculate the split fraction based on the flow from the system hydraulics.

Heat Exchangers

Specify the required flow for the required heat transfer. Check the outlet temperature.
