Folder and system level permissions in FMECA systems and FM Library
In both modules FMECA systems and FM Library you can assign a user to a specific group. By assigning a user to a group this user inherits the permissions of this group for the selected system or folder. This way you can grant or take away permissions to or from that user for a given data scope (hierarchy + working mode).
Example:
A user is a member of the group Guest. The group Guest has a maximum of Read permission for all FMECA systems. However, one of the systems in module FMECA systems is called Sandbox. This system is used for new users to have a play with the software. By making a user a member of the group Standard users on this specific Sandbox system, this user now also can create, remove and update data.
Note that it is not possible to remove any permissions from the Administrator users because this would limit their access to important Asset Strategy Optimization functionality.
Activating Asset level authorization
To be able to set authorization on FMECA folder and FMECA Systems level, the function Asset Authorization first must be activated. This is done in the System Options screen (Extra > Options > Authorization settings), by setting the checkbox called Asset Authorization Enabled.

Asset level Authorization must be activated first before permissions can be granted on FMECA folder and FMECA Systems level
Setting permissions
To set permissions on a FMECA folder or FMECA System from the FM Library or FMECA tree, do the following:
-
Select a Folder or a FMECA system
-
(FMECA tree): Click the button Permissions
(FMECA tree and FM Library): Open the Properties screen and click the tab Permissions

-
Choose a user from the list on the left side (e.g. Guest) and choose a user group from the list on the right (e.g. Edit) that will assign the permissions the chosen user will have on the selected folder/system.

-
Save your changes
Important: For the FlexGrid you may define if a user or group may use FlexGrid Views. The asset authorization settings will assess the permissions the user has on the FlexGrid. Consequently, whether or not the FlexGrid may be used by the user depends on both the settings in the FlexGrid View and the FMECA settings.
Moving a FMECA system
Since permissions can be set differently for each FMECA System and folder, moving FMECA systems from one FMECA folder to the other implies that permissions of that FMECA System will be changed, i.e. adapted to the permissions set by the new folder.
Asset Strategy Optimization will give the following warning, when the user attempts to move a FMECA System to another FMECA folder:
