How to recognize a linked object

Objects that are linked by means of the Web service can be recognized by the object-id used in the external system that is copied to a special field of the object in Asset Strategy Optimization. This field is read-only. As long as the field contains a value, the object in Asset Strategy Optimization is considered to be linked.
Objects that are linked in this way have the following properties:
-
The object-id of the external system is visible (and cannot be changed)
-
Data of the linked object can still be changed in Asset Strategy Optimization; however, it is strongly advised not to change values in Asset Strategy Optimization which are meant to be maintained from the external system, as they may be overwritten without warning, the moment a change to that object is made in the external system
-
When data from a linked object are changed in the external system, then those changes will be reflected in Asset Strategy Optimization after some time. Until that time, the data in both systems will differ. The user needs to be aware of this system behavior when using both systems interchangeably. It is advised to be consulted on the way synchronization has been configured locally
The picture below shows how a linked object can be recognized in Asset Strategy Optimization by the field External service identifier, in the section Interfaces (Other). Note that this section will only appear when the field External service identifier actually contains an object-id.

Note: The section Interfaces (Other) will only appear for a system when the object is linked to an external object by means of the object-id.
