This installation can be of the following two types:

Asset Strategy Optimization desktop application is installed on the device of the user and the database is restored on a separate instance of Microsoft SQL Server. The web application will be installed on a server that has the Microsoft IIS feature enabled. If you are choosing Non-Virtualized installation (which we do not recommend, see the note), then this type would be the preferred one.
Asset Strategy Optimization desktop and web applications installed on the device of the user and the database is restored on a separate instance of Microsoft SQL server.

Note: This installation is not recommended. Infrastructure like VPN, Proxy, or Firewalls can result in a sub-optimal performance. Virtualized is recommended for the best performance and additionally easier to maintain.

Following are the requirements for this installation.

Software requirements (minimum)	Microsoft SQL Server 2016 SP2 or later, SQL Standard or Enterprise Asset Strategy Optimization Netkey license server software
