Look for critical failure causes without preventive maintenance

The first way to optimize your maintenance strategy is to look for critical failure causes that have no preventive maintenance defined. For these failure causes, which may be under-maintained, you may consider adding preventive maintenance actions, thus mitigating the risk of unacceptable failure.

To display critical failure causes without preventive maintenance:

  1. Filter on all Critical failure causes:

    1. Move the mouse to the right of the column header Critical until the Filter icon appears

    2. Click the filter icon

    3. Select Yes and click the Filter button to confirm

The Grid now only shows all critical failure causes without preventive maintenance.

Note: The grid view already filters on all failure causes with no preventive maintenance attached.

Based on this list, you may consider adding preventive maintenance to these critical failure causes.

To do so, you can open a second tab in your browsers with the Asset Tree view. The easiest way is to duplicate the current tab, so you will start with an identical tab to the first one. Then select the tree view and use the search option to look for the failure causes in the tree.

Once you have added preventive maintenance in the second tab of your browser, go back to the first tab and refresh the list, by pressing F5. This will show the remaining items that need your attention.
