Configure the Web App

The Web App component is configured to use the AVEVA Asset Strategy Optimization web application.

Select the Web App node in the Configurator.

In the IIS Settings tab, provide the following information:

ASO Web Instance: If you are configuring the Asset Strategy Optimization Web App for the first time or want to add a new instance of Web App, then select <Add New Instance>. If you have created instances to other databases, then select the required instance from the drop-down list.
Note: Once all the configuration details are provided in the Configurator and the configuration is successful, this field displays the URL to connect to the Asset Strategy Optimization Web App.

Use built-in account: You can use this option to use the IIS ApplicationPoolIdentity account for the application pool.
Important: We recommend you use the built-in account for increased security.

Use Custom account: You can use this option to use a specific Windows user account by providing the following details:

Domain, User name, and Password: Enter the machine Domain, Username and Password to be used for the application pool. If you have already configured another component, the values used for that component are prompted by default. If you are using a custom account, ensure the account has limited administrative privileges for increased security. The custom account domain name cannot be the IP address and must be a valid domain name.
Note: When configuring ASO Web App to use Database which is on a remote server (Web App and database are on different machines), then you must select 'Use custom account'. However, if you have selected ‘Windows Authentication’ in the DB Connection tab (see step 4), then make sure that this custom account has a valid Windows authentication to connect to Database.

SSL Port and SSL Certificate: Enter the SSL Port, and select an SSL Certificate to be used by the AVEVA Asset Strategy Optimization web site.

In the UI Settings tab, provide the following information:

Website Name: Enter the website name that you will be using to configure IIS. All the websites name will have a prefix as ‘ASOWeb-’.

AIM Server: Enter the AIM Server machine details. Depending upon your selection in step 2 of the Configure the System Management Server, the existing system or the local system name appears by default.

User Session timeout: Specify a time after which the session times out. This time is calculated in minutes and if the session remains inactive beyond the time specified, the user is signed out of the web application.

In the DB Connection tab, provide the following information:

Connection: Enter the database instance you wish to connect.

Select the required authentication type:

Use Windows Authentication: For this authentication, it will automatically pick the current Windows credentials to sign in.

Use SQL Server Authentication: For this authentication, provide the Login Name and Password to access the server.

Database: Select the database name that you want to connect to.

Timeout in sec: Specify the time to establish the connection with the database. Beyond this specified time, the configuration will fail.

Select Configure.
The configuration process continues, and you can see the status of the configuration in the Configuration Messages box. If any error or warning messages appears in the Configuration Message box, then you must resolve the issues.
