The Dashboard designer is a power-user who has the role of setting up and maintaining the Dashboard layout. The layout chosen by the Dashboard designer will be the default layout for the end-user. This user needs the following permissions for this role. It is advised to create a separate role for the Dashboard designer in the authorization module of Asset Strategy Optimization:
|
Permission |

Control |
Y Y Y Y |
Design mode
With these permissions, the Dashboard designer has access to an additional option called Design mode on the Dashboard. You can select the Design mode button to enable the design mode, which gives access to a list of available and installed widgets. These widgets can be added to the Dashboard.
Important: Regardless the setting of the Design Mode option, all changes made to the Dashboard by the Dashboard designer, will be immediately visible to all users.
Adding widgets
The Dashboard designer can add (additional) widgets to the Dashboard while in design mode. To activate design mode, the Dashboard designer needs to select the Design mode button. The Dashboard designer will see the available widgets when in design mode. They appear in a list on the right of the screen. To add a widget to the Dashboard, the Dashboard designer clicks the desired widget. It will then always be placed on the top left side of the screen and will be activated immediately. Each additional widget will also be placed on the top left side of the screen. The Dashboard designer can drag the added widget to a desired location on the Dashboard canvas, as long if there is room available. Available locations are shown as blue areas, when dragged over them.
The following widgets are delivered with Asset Strategy Optimization by default. These are explained in section Widget description.

To add a widget to the Dashboard, perform the following steps:
-
Select a scope in the FMECA screen of Asset Strategy Optimization.
-
Activate the Dashboard by clicking on the Dashboard menu item, or by right-clicking the scope mentioned above and selecting Dashboard in the pop-up menu.
-
Activate the Dashboard design mode by clicking the Design mode option on the upper left side of the application.
On the right side of the application, the available widgets appear.
-
Click a desired widget to add it to the Dashboard.
-
Move the widget to the desired grid-location, and if required, resize it
-
Save the settings by de-selecting the design-mode option.
Important: The Dashboard designer will need to have edit-rights on the deployment folder of Asset Strategy Optimization. If not configured correctly, it may not be possible to change the design of the Dashboard. In that case, consult the system administrator with the request to configure the deployment folder. For more information, see Install the widgets.
Placing widgets
A widget can be moved to another location on the Dashboard, and it can be resized. Each widget can be placed on an invisible 3x3 grid. While dragging a widget over the Dashboard, the possible locations are revealed as blue squares. The widget will lock into the revealed blue square when the mouse button is released.
The size of the widget can be adjusted by dragging the sides. The sizes are restricted to the grid size, i.e. any of 1x1, 1x2, 1x3, 2x1, 3x1, 2x2, 3x2, 2x3 and 3x3. As long as it will fit on the Dashboard a widget can be placed anywhere on the grid.
Note: Widgets can be (partially) stacked on top of each other, although this will usually not add value.
Missing widgets
If new widgets were added but do not appear in the Dashboard, then possibly they were not yet installed. Ask your local system administrator to perform this action.
Tip: : If your Widget is not visible on the Dashboard, then do the following:
To add a widget onto the Dashboard the dashboard designer clicks the desired widget in the new widget area on the right of the screen. The clicked widget will always be added to the far top left of the Dashboard, on top of already present widgets. This can cause an existing widget to seemingly disappear. This widget is probably covered by a new widget. Simply move the top widget elsewhere on the Dashboard to reveal the widget underneath!
