Objects are represented in every FMECA screen in Asset Strategy Optimization. It is therefore important that the user understands where objects may be positioned and how they are operated.
The different objects are:

A Failure mode does not have an icon as it has no visual representation in the tree-structure |
In the screens of the FM Library, the FMECA Systems and the simulation models, one
of the above objects are represented. With the exception of the FM Library all objects
are always part of a System, which can be recognized by its
icon.
Position of an object
The diagram below depicts the various levels of the objects. Serial and parallel systems are not included here.

-
What is a part?
The part is the object consisting of one or more components.
-
What is a component?
The component is the object consisting of one or more Failure Causes.
-
What is a Failure Cause?
The failure cause is the object defining in what ways and under which conditions a component may fail.
-
What is Maintenance?
Maintenance is the object where it is defined how the function of a failing component is restored. Maintenance linked to a failure cause can mean repair or replacement of a component. Maintenance linked to a part always implies replacement.
