The Stock Management module in Asset Strategy Optimization maintains a list of spare parts. This list can be maintained in different ways. One way is to import spare parts, e.g. from your existing EAM (Enterprise Asset Management) system, provided they are put in a restricted Excel format. During import all elements in the Excel file will be added to the existing list (if any).

Excel Format for importing spare parts with two demo rows
Note: A template of this file is shipped with Asset Strategy Optimization and can be found in the installation folder of Asset Strategy Optimization with name StockPartsImport.xlsx.
Importing new spare part objects can be done as follows:
-
Prepare an Excel file based on the format describe above (use template file as described above). Template field names reflect those that can be found in section Adding a Spare Part.
-
Save the Excel file in a different folder where you have write access
-
Open the Spare objects management screen as described in Spare Objects Management
-
On the bottom left, press the button Excel Import
-
Lookup the prepared Excel file using the lookup screen
-
Press Open to import the contents of the Excel file
-
If the contents were found to be correct (i.e. complying to the prescribed format), the contents will be immediately shown in the screen Overview spare objects.
If the contents were not found to be correct, then not all objects will be imported. If an error message appears, stating that the import has failed, check the format of the Excel file and correct possible errors. Then, try importing the objects again.
Suppliers that are listed in the Excel file will automatically be added to the lookup lists of suppliers.
If the combination ns1:Name and ns1:Reference exists already, then the row will be skipped
If a row occurs twice in Excel, while the combination ns1:Name and ns1:Reference does not yet exist, then both rows will be imported.
