It is also possible to use mass mutation to modify the maintenance costs entered for maintenance actions. To that purpose you can use the default mass mutation functionality. Read more about Mass mutation.
To perform mass mutation of costs, do the following steps:
-
Select an object in the tree structure
-
Edit > Edit objects
-
Click Edit

Now use the Search and Change to find subordinate objects that meet the search criteria
-
Enter the search criteria
-
Click Next
-
Select the desired results for mass mutation
-
Click Next
-
Open the Costs tab
The Cost tab of the Mass Mutation window now appears:

You can choose between two types of costs to mutate:
-
Mass mutation of total costs
-
Mass mutation of cost categories
In the above example, the first option is selected.
You can only select one of the two options for Mass mutation.
IMPORTANT: Mass mutation is a powerful tool for changing huge numbers of objects within Asset Strategy Optimization. Mass mutation can greatly impact a system when incorrect values are used "by accident" in the mutation window. Asset Strategy Optimization does not have an Undo function to undo the changes implemented. Any incorrect change will have to be undone manually. Make a timely back-up of the database to prevent this kind of problem.
1) Mass mutation of total costs
Total costs can be entered directly for maintenance actions; in that case cost categories cannot be specified. If you do not enter total costs, it is possible to enter cost categories. The total costs are the cost categories added up together. The option for mass mutation of total costs only changes the direct total costs (if they are not the addition of cost categories).

Mass mutation of total costs has two possibilities:
-
Edit total costs only for maintenance actions without cost categories
Maintenance actions for which cost categories have been specified are 'skipped.
-
Delete cost categories and update all total costs
The cost categories entered for all selected maintenance actions are deleted. The total costs are fixed at the entered value.
Note: After this action it is no longer possible to enter cost categories for these maintenance actions (unless you reset the total to 0).
To mass mutate the total costs, perform the following steps:
-
Select the option Total costs (now cost categories can no longer be modified)
-
Select one of the Total costs actions
-
Choose =,+,- to set, increase or decrease the costs
-
Enter a value
-
Select a mutation type
-
Absolute - The value will be adapted to the entered value
-
Percentage - The new value will be a percentage of the entered value (in other words, if you enter 50, all entered costs will be halved)
-
-
Press OK or Apply to start the mass mutation. After confirmation of the mutation, the changes will be processed.
A status bar will be displayed during the mass mutation. When the mass mutation is completed, a message will appear. Then, click "OK".
If you started the mass mutation using the "OK" button, the mass mutation window will close and you return to the search window. If you started the mass mutation using "Apply", you return to the results window.
2) Mass mutation of cost categories
Cost categories can be entered for maintenance actions. You can create these cost categories yourself in System options. Cost categories in Asset Strategy Optimization.

To mass mutate the cost categories, perform the following steps::
-
Select the option Cost categories (now Total costs can no longer be modified).
-
Place a check mark next to a cost category, so you can mutate it
-
Choose =,+,- to set, increase or decrease the costs
-
Enter a value
-
Select a mutation type
-
Absolute - The value will be adapted to the entered value
-
Percentage - The new value will be a percentage of the entered value (in other words, if you enter 50, all entered costs will be halved)
-
-
Press OK or Apply to start the mass mutation.
