Quick FMECA

The Quick FMECA Grid is an extension to the existing FMECA Grid and can be used to model failure effects at (sub) system level. Quick FMECA is a way to quickly, and easily assert whether or not an object is critical in case of failure.

The Quick FMECA Grid can be opened by selecting a system or subsystem and clicking the icon      in the menu bar. The grid that appears is similar to the FMECA Grid, with the addition of the columns MTTF, MTTR and Critical. Just like the FMECA Grid the lay-out can be changed by right-clicking the column heads.

Failure modes can be created in the grid by clicking in the Failmode column and typing a description. Then, effect on business objectives can be assessed and entered In the grid by choosing values in the columns MTTF and MTTR, The results of the choices made become apparent in the column Critical, indicating whether or not the subsystem was considered to be critical based on the settings in the grid. The settings made here will also become visible in the FMECA-tree.

With the Quick FMECA Grid risk analysis can be performed on (sub) system level

Important: Do not forget to close save any changes made in the Quick FMECA Grid. Clicking the red cross on the top left will close the window, discarding any changes made.

Note: Subsystems / systems that incorporate failure effects that appear to be critical will turn 'red' in the FMECA tree structure

Critical (sub-)systems are shown in red, as the three subsystems in the example above.

The Quick-FMECA screen can be regarded a useful addition to the FMECA-Grid. It is only available when a (sub) system is selected in the FMECA tree.
