To prepare for the function Apply FM library templates

  1. Set up an Asset tree up until and including the part level.

  2. Open the Library with the templates from the parts level.

  3. Make sure the Property pane is open to show the matching value.

  4. For each Part object in the Asset tree, select a matching part in the Library.

  5. Implement the match by filling in the matching value from the template part in the Part object in the Asset tree.

  6. Make a back-up from the Asset tree (export) before continuing.

To execute the Apply FM library templates function

  1. Select the scope in the Asset tree by right-clicking an object at the intended level.

  2. Select the Apply FM library templates function from the context menu.

The matching list is displayed, still empty.

  3. Choose the free field that is used for matching (note that in some companies, more than one free field may be used for making different matches).

  4. Immediately after choosing the free field, the matching list will be populated with all the matches found.

Note: it is possible to apply media MTTF correction and/or media effects; this is explained below and will be ignored here.

  5. Select all matches that need to be applied in the template merge action by ticking the corresponding selection box; alternatively, select all rows by selecting the topmost selection box.

  6. Click the Apply FM library templates button to start the merge action.

Note: In case of duplicates, like explained in Troubleshoot, the action will not start. Instead, a message will be shown indicating the duplicates found, and prompting to solve the issue. In that case, unselect rows until all issues are solved; work with the Library maintenance user to solve the issue in the Library.

When finished, a message appears, indicating success and how many merge actions were actually performed.

  7. Click Close to close the message window.
