Adding a Spare Part

In the Spare Objects Management new spare parts can be created. Alternatively, you may Importing Spare Parts a set of spare parts from an Excel file. If you decide to change the properties of a spare part, then read the message below!

To create a new spare part, do the following:

  1. Open the Spare Objects Management window as described Spare Objects Management

  2. At the left side of the window, click  "Add"

  3. Fill in the properties (use the table below as a reference)

  4. Press "OK" to save the new spare part. Use  "Cancel" to cancel creating a new spare part and return to the Spare Objects Management

The following properties can be entered when creating a new spare part:

FIELD

DESCRIPTION

Spare code

Unique code for spare part

Name

Unique name for spare part

Description

Information describing the spare part in more detail

Manufacturer

Name of the manufacturer of the spare part

Supplier

Name of supplier, choose from list. Read more about how to Adding suppliers

Spare code supplier

Unique code for spare part, as referenced by supplier

Material name

Description of the material the spare part is made of

Size

Size of the spare part

Unit

Pick one of the SI-units, this list is maintained in the Custom lookups options screen

Spare integrity value

Integrity value of the Spare, indicating the accuracy of the quantity in stock (any value, to be defined by the user)

Purchase price (currency)

Purchase price if purchased from supplier (in configured currency)

Stock costs (currency/year)

The costs of stocking this item (in configured currency per year)

*) Stocked

Indication whether or not the item is currently stocked

Delivery time

Time between order time and moment of delivery

Order point

Number of objects required to be kept in stock;  if Stocked < Order point, then new spare parts should be back-ordered

*) Emergency del. time

Time between order time and moment of delivery in case of an emergency

*) Order quantity

Number of units per order

Comment

Optional comments about the spare part

Important: changing a spare part!

Changes made to the fields marked with *) in the spare part management screen always have an immediate effect on maintenance actions linked to the spare part or to a report. More than one maintenance actions in a FMECA System may be linked to the same unique spare part. Reports that report stock costs calculate the Order quantity * Purchase value.

A change in delivery period for a spare part can show its influence on several levels. To check to which parts and components a spare part is linked, you may open the spare parts management screen. Spare Objects Management
