Besides displaying flat lists, the FlexGrid supports the use of hierarchical views. Open the FlexGrid screen as described in section FlexGrid. In the example below, the hierarchical view "Hierarchical" will be detailed.

-
Click a hierarchical view to display this view
The highest nesting level will now be displayed, this is a Part of a FMECA system. Target the cross hairs mark at the left-hand side of an entity to expand it and make entities directly below visible. In this example, you need to target the symbol directly left of the Part icon.

-
Expand the model within an hierarchical view using the cross-hairs symbol
The associated objects below are now shown. Please mark that the layout is similar to the first screenshot. For each entity, one can choose the data characteristics that need to be included in the FlexGrid (in the example above this includes the fields Part type, Name, Function, Path by Name, etc.). You may, however, customize and expand this set with all fields available for each entity. If you click once more, on the minus sign (+ visible in collapsed state, - in expanded state) the model at hand will be collapsed again. Using the same approach, you can navigate to the components under Component "Spokes rear wheel".

Expand the model within an hierarchical view using the cross-hairs symbol
Please mark that in some instances, different entity types can be present under a node such as a part, in this case components and failure modes. You can see from the figure above, that each of these are represented in individual tabs. Click a tab to display the corresponding collection within, such as "Components".

-
Zoom in into detail view for an object with limited scope, using the magnifying glass at the left upper corner.
In order to prevent a cluttered view with too many data open simultaneously, you may opt to zoom in into detail view for a subsection of the FMECA model, using the magnifying glass at the left upper corner, under the tabs.
All components under the expanded node "Spokes rear wheel" are now displayed in the view. Press the cross-hair symbol on the top left to exit the detailed view mode and leave the zoomed view. A view such as the previous screenshot will reappear.
