STEP 6 & 7: Defining Risk Number and Risk threshold

After filling in all failure data, it is time to have a look at risks. Risk is indicated by means of a risk number. This number is the product of the weighting factors of the MTTF, repair duration (desktop only) and classification of an effect. Whenever a risk exceeds the set threshold, the risk threshold, the part in question will be considered critical. Calculating and displaying risk numbers is done automatically by Asset Strategy Optimization. The results of these calculations are visualized in the Asset tree and in the risk matrix.

This ends our 7 step bottom-down approach FMECA. With this in place, we can continue with our Risk Analysis. This is explained in Risk matrix. But first, we will consider an alternative way of performing an FMECA analysis, the top-down approach, which we call Quick FMECA in Asset Strategy Optimization.
