Remove preventive maintenance for non-critical failure causes

The aim here is to have a practical overview of all the non-critical failure causes with defined preventive maintenance. For this, the column Critical can be used to filter on the non-critical failure causes. Two ways to accomplish this are:

  1. Filter the Critical column on No

  2. Group on column Critical and focus on the non-critical elements

To filter the Critical column on No:

  1. Move the mouse to the right of the column header Critical until the Filter icon appears

  2. Click the filter icon

  3. Select No and click the Filter button to confirm

To group on column Critical and focus on non-critical elements:

    1. Move the mouse onto the column header Critical

    2. Drag the name to the row above (denoting Drag a column header and drop it here to group by that column)

    3. The grid values will appear in a group with Criticality value of True and False.

    4. Focus on the group with False by expanding it (click the arrow to the left) and collapsing the group with True by clicking the arrow to the left of it.

Consider removing preventive maintenance for non-critical failure causes in the following cases:

      • The maintenance action is not mandatory (check column Mandatory; if you were to try, Asset Strategy Optimization would not let you).

      • Run-to-failure would be the better strategy for this non-critical failure cause (over-maintained).

To remove one or more preventive maintenance actions (permanently) from their failure causes:

      1. Select the relevant rows in the grid by clicking the selection boxes on the left.

      2. Right-click the mouse to reveal the context menu.

      3. Choose option Delete Preventive Maintenance.
A confirmation window appears, warning that removal cannot be undone.

      4. In the confirmation window, choose Yes to confirm the removal of the preventive maintenance actions, or No to abort the action.

Tip: A single preventive maintenance action can be removed by right clicking the row and following the procedure above. Once you have deleted one or more preventive maintenance items from the list, refresh it by pressing F5. This will show the remaining items that need your attention.

Note: Mandatory maintenance cannot be removed.
