Maintenance is the last step in the tree structure in Asset Strategy Optimization and is related to the failure cause. Maintenance is the object in which the user defines how failure of a component should be dealt with (repair or replacement) or could be prevented. PM (preventive maintenance) actions define how failure prevention is achieved. Repair or replacement is defined as a Failure Based Maintenance (FBM) action. At least one FBM action should be defined for each failure cause.

This figure shows all the maintenance related objects supported by Asset Strategy Optimization. The Maintenance actions (FBM, UBM, CBM and FFT) are described above. The Maintenance object in the figure refers to the possibility to define two other objects:
UBM High: On the level of the part, the user can define that with a certain interval, a preventive maintenance action should be performed, which could be a mandatory action.
CLM: On the level of the part, the user can group two or more Maintenance actions into a cluster to optimize the maintenance activity in terms of time and costs, hence the term CLM (Clustered Maintenance).
