Current Situation versus New Situation

When the Stock Analysis window is opened, a large grid is shown. Each line shows a failure cause including the corresponding component. By scrolling to the right, two main columns are revealed: Current Situation and New Situation.

Current Situation

The current situation indicates whether or not the component shown is currently marked as being a stocked item.  It also indicates whether or not the situation for that component (based on the criticality parameters listed on the same line) is assessed as being critical or not, and what is the current downtime when failure occurs.

New Situation

The new situation indicates the effect stocking an non-stocked item would have on downtime and criticality. The user can see the effect immediately by ticking the box in column Stocked.

Candidate for stock

The column Candidate for stock indicates whether or not stocking an item would have a positive effect on criticality. The user may expect that ticking the Stocked box for that item would make the Critical cell turn to green.

Pass through

The grid in the Stock analysis screen gives background information about objects and their criticality data. However, not all information is present. To quickly reveal detailed information, the user may open the details of an object at any time by using the Pass through option.

To jump to the object and show its detailed information (in the FMECA screen), do the following:

  1. Right click the row of the object of interest.

  2. Click the Pass Through option in the pop-up menu

  3. The FMECA screen opens with the object of interest selected

Note: The Stock Analysis screen does not refresh its contents. After making a change in the FMECA screen, to see the changes, the user should open another copy of the Stock Analysis screen, and optionally close the already open version.
