AVEVA ™ Asset Strategy Optimization

CLM (Clustered Maintenance)

  • Last UpdatedDec 04, 2024
  • 3 minute read

Asset Strategy Optimization can be used to group together individual maintenance actions to create a combined maintenance action, with all the related benefits of synergy (costs and lead-time). A combined maintenance action such as this is called a CLM in Asset Strategy Optimization.

This CLM clusters maintenance actions already entered for one or more parts carried out on a regular basis. In other words, they are UBM and CBM (inspection) actions implemented at a specific frequency. No FBM or CBM maintenance follow-up actions may be included in a CLM.

A CLM can be created on the following levels:

  • Serial or Parallel System

  • Part

To ensure synergy benefits, the characteristic maintenance data such as costs and lead-time must be entered for the CLM itself. Costs, lead-time, etc. are applicable for all the maintenance actions included.

Creating a CLM action

Creating a CLM object is similar to the steps in CLM – Clustering maintenance in a Clustered Maintenance object.

FIELD

DESCRIPTION

Description

Users are free to enter any description for the object. The logical option is to describe the clustered maintenance actions as a single maintenance action.

Number

A maintenance action can be numbered. When configured, the number will be listed in the tree with the Description of the CLM.

Maintenance time (including time unit)

Duration of the maintenance action.

Mandatory

This field can be set to indicate that the modeled maintenance is mandatory, for instance because of legislation. Marking it as mandatory is a signal that the maintenance should not be changed or removed without careful consideration. This is highlighted by the object icon .

Maintenance instruction

This is an editor field that can be used to describe specific instructions for executing the defined maintenance action.

Interval

Frequency with which the failure finding task is carried out (choose also the time unit)

CLM

Section where CLM maintenance actions are maintained. See below for detailed explanation.

Costs*)

Costs can contain different sections: Maintenance category, Cost categories, and Total costs.

Maintenance category

Select here from Minor maintenance, Major maintenance, and Renewal.

Cost categories

The options to enter in this field are predefined. Categories can be defined in the desktop version. Examples of cost categories include personnel, material, and equipment.

Total Costs

This field has a dual function:

If cost categories are not used, the user may enter a cost value directly in this field.

If costs have been specified using the cost categories, then this field will automatically show the sum of these values; in this case the field will be read-only; only when all the values in the cost categories have been reset to 0, will the field Total costs become editable again.

Environmental Impact

Based on the categories configured in System Options, the impact categories appear.

In the field, enter the category value to calculate the Total CO2e.

To know about this option, see the topic Environmental Impact.

Free fields*)

When configured, the defined free fields that are relevant to the maintenance object can be filled in here.

*)

These fields should be enabled in the desktop versions. See also: Other information.
