AVEVA ™ Asset Strategy Optimization

Understand the Library structure

Structures that have been built up in the Library can be reused multiple times when constructing an FMECA system in the Tree view. Moreover, the Asset Strategy Library, a readily available Library containing market standard structures, can be licensed and imported into the Library.

The picture below shows the object hierarchy supported by the Library.

There are several ways to build up your Asset tree using the Library:

  • Copy single item - Any element in the Library can be copied over to a relevant level in the Asset tree, including its underlying structure.

  • Merge-copy - A ‘merge copy’ can be performed by copying a part in the Library onto a part in the Asset tree. This will result in the existing part (and its underlying structure, if present) in the Asset tree to be replaced by the part of the Library (including its underlying structure). Moreover, depending on the settings, some of the property values of the Library Part object will overwrite the existing part in the Asset tree, while other fields may be preserved.

  • Apply FM library templates - Using the function ‘Apply FM library templates’, the ‘merge copy’ described in the previous bullet point can be applied en masse to a chosen scope in the Asset tree. An example of using this powerful function is to quickly enrich an initial object structure with full details and failure behavior obtained from the templates in the Library.
