Effect Analysis Grid

The Effect Analysis Grid (this is referred to as the FMECA Grid in the desktop version) presents an overview of the parts that are present in the selected (sub)systems. For each part, an overview is presented of the defined failure modes. Next to each failure mode are several columns that can store the effects functional failure of the part will have on the business objectives. The number of columns is equal to the number of business objectives defined in STEP 2: Define Business Objectives (desktop version). Per business objective a choice can be made of the severity of the effect of failure, as defined in STEP 3: Define classifications and weighting factors (desktop version). In the column of each business objective the effect of functional failure at the level of the subsystem can be entered. With the data in the Effect Analysis Grid comprehension of how failure affects the business objectives is increased.

The Effect Analysis is complete when both the effects on the business objects have been defined per part, and the probability of failure has been defined (in terms of the MTTF). This results in a risk profile.

How to work with the Effect Analysis Grid is explained in topic Effect Analysis Grid.
