Work with widgets

End users can invoke the Dashboard for a chosen scope. The Dashboard will show up in the default layout Set up the default dashboard by the Dashboard designer.

The end user may adapt the layout of the Dashboard. This changed layout will be remembered as long as Asset Strategy Optimization is running for this end user. Next time Asset Strategy Optimization is started, the Dashboard will reappear in the default layout.

Steps the end user can take to open the Dashboard

Opening the Dashboard

To open the Dashboard, perform the following steps:

  1. Open the FMECA screen from the main screen of Asset Strategy Optimization.

  2. Right click a system, subsystem or part to define a scope.

  3. Choose the Dashboard option in the pop-up menu.

  4. Alternatively, select a scope with the mouse and click Dashboard in the main menu .

Tip: If the option Dashboard is grayed out, then a scope needs to be defined first.

The Dashboard opens as a separate screen, showing the default view as defined by the Dashboard designer.

Adjusting Widgets

Each widget can be placed on an invisible 3x3 grid. While dragging a widget over the Dashboard, the possible locations are revealed as blue squares. The widget will lock into the revealed blue square when the mouse button is released.

The size of the widget can be adjusted by dragging the sides. The sizes are restricted to the grid size, i.e. any of 1x1, 1x2, 1x3, 2x1, 3x1, 2x2, 3x2, 2x3 and 3x3. As long as it will fit on the Dashboard a widget can be placed anywhere on the grid. As widget can also be maximized to full screen mode.

Note: Widgets can be (partially) stacked on top of each other, although this will usually not add value.

Floating widgets

Apart from placing widget on a 3x3 grid, widgets can also be placed anywhere on the screen, with arbitrary sizes. Right-click the top-bar of the widget and choose float. The reverse action is called 'Dock'.

Inspecting widgets

Widgets are active elements. By moving the mouse over a widget, additional data will be shown.

Changing Widget presentation

The user may switch the presentation form that was chosen by the Dashboard Designer, by right clicking the widget and choosing Switch presentation style to... and selecting one of the presentation styles.

Pass through

Double clicking data in a widget, or dragging a pie-chart element, may reveal detailed data views in a separate screen. In this way, the user may learn more about the meaning of the widget data.

Clear Layout

The Dashboard always opens in the layout defined by the Dashboard designer. The user may change the layout. These changes remain saved until Asset Strategy Optimization is shut down.

If the user wishes to return to the default layout this can be achieved by pressing the Clear layout button at the top left of the screen.

Refresh

The Dashboard, upon opening, shows the most recent data. Once open, these data are not refreshed automatically. The nature of changes in Asset Strategy Optimization is not such that large quantities of data are changing continuously.

If the user wish to update the data shown in the Dashboard, this can be achieved by pressing the Refresh button on the top of the Dashboard screen.
