Quick FMECA Grid

You can open the Quick-FMECA Grid by selecting a system or subsystem in the "FMECA systems" window and:

  1. Right-click and then select Quick-FMECA from the context menu

  2. Select in the menu bar

The following window will be displayed:

You can enter the effects of the failures per (sub) system in this window. Depending on this, the system in question will be within the critical threshold. If that is the case, the failure mode concerned will be check-marked as critical. After the Quick-FMECA window is closed, and the tree structure refreshed, the critical systems will be displayed in red

If you copy a subsystem in the same system, the factor classifications for a failure mode will be retained.
If you copy a subsystem to a different system (left side of the FMECA window), the factor classifications will be cancelled!

This is because factor classifications are linked to the (main) system. The factor classifications are thus entered via the (main) system, on the left side of the FMECA window (tree structure). The same applies to the export/import of systems.

If you export/import a complete FMECA system, the factor classifications for a failure mode will be retained.
If you export/import an FMECA subsystem, the factor classifications will be cancelled!

Selecting the maximum depth

The range of subsystems that is used to work with can be configured by the end-user. By default this value is set to 1. This means that the Quick FMECA grid will always show the direct underlying subsystems of the subsystem that is selected in the FMECA tree. By filling in a different value here , the range can be expanded.

Saving the layout of the Quick FMECA grid

The lay-out of the Quick FMECA grid is freely adjustable for users. Adjustments include sizing the width of columns, changing the order of columns and/or hiding of specific columns. Lay-out modifications will not be stored by default. After reopening the Quick FMECA grid the lay-out adjustments will be undone.

To save the lay-out adjustments the button "Save layout" can be pressed, in the right upper corner of the grid. Please note that this is an application level setting and will be applied to all users.

Hiding column 'Critical'

An example of changing the layout is the use of column 'critical' which indicates whether or not a subsystem is found to be critical. Some may find that this column influence the audience in the process of filling out the Quick FMECA Grid, e.g. because they learn how certain values will make the subsystem critical. A solution to this may be to (temporarily) hide the 'critical' column, so it will no longer influence the users. When the end-results of the Quick FMECA are shown, the column may be made visible again.

No comments in Quick FMECA Grid?

Tip: If no comments seem to be present in the Quick FMECA Grid, where they previously used to be (especially after upgrading to version 8.1), then this may be caused by the chosen layout. Press Clear Layout to revert back to the default layout which should reveal the comments column again.
