Effect of changes on the active user
When the Asset Strategy Optimization Web services are active, changes arriving from the external system through the Web service interface - Introduction will be processed in the database of Asset Strategy Optimization. Changes that arrive will probably go unnoticed by the user already working in Asset Strategy Optimization at the time of the change. The behavior will be similar to the situation where another active user makes a change to the FMECA structure. It can be noticed when the user is working on the same system and views the FMECA tree-structure or checks the properties of an object.
Effect of changes on the non-active user
The user who will start Asset Strategy Optimization after changes have been made through the Web service in the database, will be presented with a Service log overview screen. This screen (if enabled as part of configuring Asset Strategy Optimization) will show a list of all changes that were made. The user could ignore this screen, close it, and continue working in Asset Strategy Optimization, but probably, the user will be interested in the changes that were made, and will inspect these changes in the Service log overview screen.

The Service log overview screen
Next time when the user starts Asset Strategy Optimization, the screen will reopen showing all (now old and possibly new) messages. These messages will remain until the user has tagged them as 'Reviewed' and has closed the overview screen. 'Reviewed' messages will not be shown to any (other) user by default, even to users who also get the change overview screen, and have not seen those message before. The Service log overview screen will reveal itself identically to each user who has access to it. To show all already reviewed items (ever before), select the option Show all items in the Service log overview screen.
Adding Comments
Every user with access to the Service log overview screen can add comments to each message. This field can be used for example in situations where the change was unexpected or undesired. Another user who will start Asset Strategy Optimization afterwards, can read the comment and be informed about the situation. In this way, users can inform each other about changes and actions that are required. An action might be to revert an undesired change in the external system, which will then also be automatically reverted in Asset Strategy Optimization as soon as the change reaches Asset Strategy Optimization through the Web service. A comment is added using the column-field 'Comments' in the Service log overview screen. Comments are saved as soon as the user closes the screen using the OK button or by pressing the Apply button. The Comments are lost when the user chooses to press the Cancel button.

Audit Trail
All changes shown in the change overview screen will also be shown in the Audit Trail (except for the comment), provided the Audit trail is activated. Here, all changes are tracked that were made in Asset Strategy Optimization, including the user who caused the change. If the change was made by the Web service, then the Audit Trail will show the name that was used in the message of the Web service. The Web service requires a valid, active, Asset Strategy Optimization user on behalf of whom it will make the changes. It is up to the organization to configure this. In the example below, the user name used to make the changes is OptimizerUser.
Note: Web service related messages can always be recognized by the value 'Service - <source>' in the column Context, where <source> indicates the name of the leading external system.

Changes can also be traced back in the Audit Trail (if activated) - Web service related messages can be recognized by the term Service in column Context
Checking all items at once
The user may check all visible rows a once, by pressing the button Check visible rows, e.g. in cases where all changes are interrelated and it is obvious that all can be reviewed at once. Pressing the button Check visible rows, will put a check mark in all visible rows, but it will not apply the change yet. Only when the user presses the OK or Apply button will the changes be applied. Asset Strategy Optimization will display a warning message that this will multiple changes will be applied. The action can be undone only be choosing NO in the message pane, then pressing Cancel in the Service log overview screen. When reopening the overview screen (see below), the messages will all still be there.

A message appears if all rows were 'checked' at once, explaining how the action can be undone.
Pass through
To quickly examine a Service log overview message in more detail, the user can click the button Pass through, in the column with the same name. When the mouse is over the field, it becomes a button that can be pressed. This will open the FMECA screen with the selected object.

Displaying the Service log overview screen
After closing the Service log overview screen, it will automatically reappear each time Asset Strategy Optimization is started, provided there are still unreviewed changes to show.
The user may reopen the change overview screen at any time, by using the menu option: Extra > Asset Strategy Optimization Service log overview.
