Failure modes

  • Last UpdatedFeb 13, 2023

The Failure modes describe the specific ways by which functional failure can occur in a part and the impact that has on the defined business objectives. Actual failure occurs in the underlying components, expressed as failure causes. The association between failure causes and failure modes is defined in the Part object.

The scope of a failure mode is the part it is defined in. When a failure mode is created, the user can set the consequences of failure for each of the business objectives that apply to this Model. Associations with failure modes can be made at any time with failure modes that exist in the hierarchy of the part.
