Assay allows you to determine the complete description of a crude oil given raw assay data, ranging in scope from very limited assay data of two or three measurements, through to complete crude assays. To provide the expert with maximal control over the workup of crude data, the AssayWorkup Module in Assay supports many advanced data manipulation features.
Assay intelligently uses its knowledge of crude oil behaviour to generate the crude description most consistent with the input data, flagging up and deweighting any values which lie outside the model's range. The crude which is generated will contain complete information, for all properties, and may be added to the database and manipulated in the same way as any other crude in the database.
AssayWorkup allows you to enhance the assay generation with information from existing crudes by setting a basis assay for the workup. The basis assay acts as a primary source for property data during generation, and updated measurements are used to adjust the overall properties to better match the entered measurements. Where no property data is included in the assay measurements, basis measurements are used and adjusted, rather than relying solely on the values predicted by the statistical model. Thus AssayWorkup with a basis crude is a combination of workup and update, ensuring that the generated data is consistent with the crude identity where the crude data is well established.
