Publish other objects

In addition to crudes, other types of objects can be shared among users of the product. These include assay sets and flowsheets. See Create sets of crudes and Create a flowsheet.

When an object is shared, all of the object's information and settings are made visible to other users with access to the share in which the object is shared. Other users can view and use the object, but they cannot change the object's settings. Only the object's owner can change an object's settings. The object owner is usually the original person who published the object to a central share; however, the object owner can be changed to allow other users to take possession of the object and then change its settings. Although users cannot edit shared objects they do not own, they can make copies of shared objects, and then edit these. However, when a copy of an object is made the original link to the shared item is broken, so that if changes are made in the shared object the copy does not update automatically.

Objects published and shared from Assay will also be available in other applications from AVEVA, such as the web version of Assay, the browser-based tool for working with crude data. Within Assay, shared objects such as flowsheets can be used by other users, and copied if required. Changes made to the shared object are synchronised between the desktop application and web application.
