Using the New From Template option in the Document group of the Home ribbon tab you can automatically populate the Measurements grid with data contained in a measurement grid template, thereby easing manual data entry tasks. Data contained in a template can include property and stream headers, active cell check boxes, and possibly even comments and measurement values.

A grid template is a collection of properties, streams, active cell check boxes, and possibly also comments and measurement values, that can be applied to a measurement grid to populate it with the data contained in the template.
Two types of grid template are available in Assay:
-
Pre-configured templates: These are pre-existing, standardised grid templates shipped with your version of Assay for use throughout the application. The precise range of pre-configured templates available to you depends on your particular configuration of Assay.
-
User-defined templates: These are custom grid templates that you create for use in subsequent Assay operations. To create your own user-defined templates click the downward arrow below the Save button in the Document group of the Home ribbon tab and choose Save as Template from the menu. See Save a layout template.
Measurement grid templates can be used throughout several places in Assay, including:
-
For use in entering data into the measurement grid.
-
In recutting a crude in the Database to a template.
To open the Measurement Grid using a grid template, click New in the Document group of the Home ribbon tab. From the list that appears, select a template appropriate for your assay. Assay automatically populates the measurement grid with the property and stream headers, active cell check boxes and comments and measurement values (if these exist) contained in the template.
Alternatively click the Add
button at the bottom of the Document Navigator, and select the name of template from
the pop-up menu.
