Dialog Feature Evaluation. List of optional features that can be activated to test the improvements they introduce.

This page allows you to enable or disable new features introduced in the numerical routines of Assay.

By enabling these features you can safely test the improvements they introduce, while still being able

to revert to the old behaviour in case of problems.

Use Latest Swing Cut Calculation Method

This option enables the latest swing cut calculation method.

If you do not select the check box (this is the default setting) calculations involving swing cuts produces the same results as in previous CrudeSuite releases.

If you do select the check box, the new calculation method for swing cuts is used. The main improvements in the new calculation method are the following:

  • Calculation of heart-cut yields has been improved to increase the accuracy of the streams resulting from “blending in” the swings to their heart-cuts. You should notice this effect most if you are using a flowsheet with multiple swings and/or multiple distillation units in your planning templates.

  • The accuracy of the blended-in streams when using crude-dependent flowsheets has also been improved. A side-effect of this improvement is that overlapping swings are no longer allowed in crude-dependent flowsheets when using the latest calculation method.

  • A defect in the calculation of yields on the inputs to mixers has been corrected. Associated with this defect was an unintended behaviour whereby it was possible to define a swing onto one of the input pipes to a mixer. In this situation it is not possible for Assay to correctly calculate the yield of the mixer input heart-cut, so this situation is not allowed when using the latest calculation method.

Use Measure of Sample Adequacy

This setting improves modelling when only a limited number of measurements are available.

Formula columns use zero for undefined input values

A formula column in a view normally shows blank entries whenever one or more of the formula's

input variables are undefined. This setting allows undefined input variables to be interpreted as zero

when evaluating a formula column.
