Crude database file export

The .cdb format is a native file format for Assay and related AVEVA applications. It holds the complete Assay crude description of one or more crudes and is the recommended format for crude data transfer between sessions of Assay and other AVEVA crude data processing tools. In general, only user crudes may be exported in .cdb format. However, if you have relevant Database licensing permissions, you may be able to export standard database crudes in this form. See User crudes.
User crudes can be exported in .cdb format from both the Database and the documents. From the Database, you can export either a single crude, or a selection of crudes. From a document, you can export only the crude currently being processed.
Export from the database
To export a single crude from the database, select the crude to be exported and do either of the following:
-
Choose Export from the Document group of the Home ribbon tab.
-
Right click and choose Export from the context menu.
From the Export submenu, select the Crude Database option. This opens a Save As dialog from where you can browse for a location to which you can save your crude data in .cdb format. Note that if you have selected a standard crude for export instead of a user crude, the option to export in .cdb file will be inactive.
To export a range of crudes from the Database, select the crudes to be exported. For ease of use you can include a mixture of both standard crudes and user crudes in your selection; in this case only the user crudes in the range of crudes selected will be exported. Follow the same steps as for a single crude. Instead of a Save As dialog box, the Export Options dialog opens, from where you can save your crudes as either a single file, as multiple files, or as a single compressed file. See Bulk export.
Export from a document
To export a crude from a document in .cdb format, select Export from the Document group of the Home ribbon tab. From the Export submenu, choose the Crude Database option. This opens a Save As dialog from where you can browse for a location to which you can save your crude data in .cdb format.
Export Assay v3 and v4.0 files
Assays can be saved in the legacy Assay v3.1 and v4.0 formats to allow the assays to be used in older versions of AVEVA tools. Version 3.1 and 4.0 cdb files can be exported in the same ways as other .cdb files, but instead selecting the Crude Database (v3.1x) or Crude Database (v4.0) option during export.
