For any system, you must choose the cuts that will be present in the generated planning tool report file.
To add a new cut, double click any cell of the first empty row below the current list of items. A new cut is added, which you can then edit. The following table describes the columns in the grid.
|
Field |
Description |
|---|---|
|
Active |
To enable this stream in the report, select the check box next to the stream's name. |
|
Type |
Select the stream type by double-clicking the cell and choosing an option from the drop-down menu. Two stream types are available: DBAL streams are deferred cuts and do not have to fit into a sequential cutting scheme, while W/V BAL streams are standard sequential streams. The sequential W/V BAL streams must cover the whole boiling range of the crude from IBP to FBP. |
|
Tag |
The code for the cut, which will appear in any output report generated using the Planning Tool Report template. Tags are normally three characters long, but extended tags may be used if enabled in your planning tool. The tag must be unique and cannot be a duplicate of any of the light end tags. |
|
Name |
A descriptive name for the cut up to twenty characters. |
|
IVT |
The initial vapour temperature of the cut. To indicate that a cut is an overhead cut, you can enter the value IBP (initial boiling point) in this field. |
|
FVT |
The final vapour temperature of the cut. To indicate that a cut is a residue cut, you can enter the value FBP (final boiling point) in this field. |
Clicking on any white cell in a cut row allows you to type a new value into it. When configuring a cut, any invalid values will be shown in red, and will need to be corrected before you can continue through the wizard. The cuts are ordered in the sequence you enter them. To sort the cuts into a sequential order from IBP to FBP, right-click on the grid and choose Sort Sequential Cuts from the context menu.
Cuts assigned the type DBAL are deferred cuts. Deferred cuts are cuts that do not fit into the contiguous cutting scheme defined by the W/V BAL sequential cuts. Note that it is not necessary to configure any deferred cuts at all, if you so wish.
To change the temperature unit of the cut points specified, double click on either the IVT or the FVT column header. Choose between C, F, K and R from the temperature unit drop down box. When asked if you like to convert the entered values to the new unit, click Yes to convert your entered vapour temperatures to your new temperature unit, or No to leave them as is.
